Rx8 left sitting without Sparkplugs

i removed the sparkplugs from my rx8 and the car has been sitting for about 1 month already....i was going to replace them, but the shipment never came in.....

i was wondering if this could have damaged the motor??? i will be getting the sparks in a few days so i will be able to test......i just want to know ahead of time if i could have damaged something by letting my car sit for so long without the spark plugs inside

I would say, it could. It could rust, hornets could build a nest, etc.

Either way rust is an issue. Rust inside the motor is bad.

there prob enough crap in there it wont matter. squirt some oil in and turn the engine over a few times. OR run own the the auto parts store and get some rx7 plugs for about $20 for all 4. they work just the same, it's all ive ever used on my 04 rx8 for over 100K miles.

^ Don't use RX7 plugs. Use the required plugs. Most would not know the difference driving normally but running the wrong plugs could cause warranty issues if the dealer discovers you were using the wrong plugs. If there is anything in there then there is not much you can do about it now.

Any flash rust will quickly burn off. You'll be fine.

Good to hear. I hope you let her warm up completely before redlining. Just swap out all the fluids and drive her around a lot to get her juices flowing again.

My shifter vibrates a little as well, amplified by the short shifter leverage. It's normal and probably prior unnoticed by you, as you're now more sensitive to everything that's going on post your 8's downtime.

'course it could also be time for a transmission fluid change.
