Did you do the 50 mile cruising at 4k thing yet?

I had hard starts for my first 300 miles... like really hard starts.

olddragger 05-27-2012 12:20 PM

is vacuum increasing ---good thing to keep your eye on.
take a vacuum reading at idle and one at 2K rpm--no loads( a/c lights etc)

houstonrx8er 05-27-2012 12:55 PM

wow, thanks for the invite charles!!!

I think I will absolutely take you up on that in the near future :)

I am going to go for another curise and go get the vacuum guage back from 9k (i took it back prematurly apparently....lol) and I will see what is happening

houstonrx8er 05-27-2012 04:29 PM

so it just dawned on me. I keep talking about what is in my gas tank....

would 2+OZ/gallon of idemitsu plus a bottle of seafoam in original 3/4 tank of gas going to create an issue with break in (what I mean by that is that going to "over lubricate" the surfaces extending the "seating time")?

I did get a half tank of gas this morning but not something I want to do comsistently with the car running :)

olddragger 05-27-2012 06:14 PM

wait....you had 2 ozs of pre mix per gallon plus an entire bottle of seafoam in 3/4 tank of gas that sat up for a couple months? you put cleaner and oil in at the same time?
uhhhhhhh--i would say thats probably not the best fuel blend to fire an engine up with.

houstonrx8er 05-27-2012 06:26 PM

yea I know but I didnt really have a choice :( (and I put the seafoam in to keep the fuel "fresh".....we use it at the farm for this purpose)

I iwll go fill all the way up tonight and drive some more

*edit: well I did have a choice...I just didnt choose wisely :)

We can rebuild the engine that is coming out of Raul, and no worries about a time line then :-)

houstonrx8er 05-27-2012 09:47 PM

no timeline :(

I can "aquire" an old VW chasis and we can put it in that :)

olddragger 05-28-2012 08:44 AM

well at least it was lubricated well:)
Understand farm stuff--seafoam is good for tractors and other stuff that has to set for a little while.

do you think that is playing a role in the lack of "break-in"

I guess I am asking should I go do some high load runs now that the premix % was cut by 2/3rds

By no timeline I mean we are not in a hurry. We can take our time and pay for things little by liitle.

houstonrx8er 05-28-2012 12:31 PM

gotcha.....maybe a rotary powered tr6 :)

J8635621 05-28-2012 12:37 PM

houstonrx8er 05-28-2012 12:45 PM

Fawking awesome! Strange that it takes that long.

houstonrx8er 05-28-2012 10:51 PM

thats what I hope, I think gas tank management is something that I completly overlooked going into this and an opportunity that someone with more $ and a higher volume of engines running through their hands sould investigate.....lmao

maybe dog hair and my special gas tank blend will be the key to more power and longevity....lmao

it has to be because of the damn super premix

9krpmrx8 05-28-2012 10:57 PM

Yeah well at least it caused us to go through everything with a fine tooth comb and find some little things to tweak and make better. I'm so glad to hear this man, I am sure you were stressing way more but honestly I spent a shit ton of time trying to think of what it could be.

houstonrx8er 05-28-2012 11:03 PM

yea I am good now (although I was better the first time it started....just growing more concerned as time went on

Chino_rx3 05-29-2012 06:34 AM

GLad to hear .. now you can finally sleep lol

houstonrx8er 05-29-2012 06:55 AM
