well for you guys that know what your looking at see the log below (I apologize I havent figured out how to adjust the frequency of the log) :Freak_ani

I think this is a slam dunk for fuel/air issue :)

houstonrx8er 07-05-2012 04:07 PM

oops the ignition lead time is off the page...if that is important let me know :)

man, that is all over the place.

Can you change your live data to log time, RPM, AFR, LTFT, STFT, Mass airflow G/S, and then log for a 30 second interval at cruise?

I didn't log STFT.....but here is a more consistent log at cruise...I am a data guy so I look at this kind of stuff everyday but if you scroll through and just watch the AFR you can use that as your mark.....if that makes any sense at all:uhh:

houstonrx8er 07-05-2012 04:42 PM

I looked all over cobb's website...you will have to show me how to adjust the data log interval in the AP

9krpmrx8 07-05-2012 04:47 PM

I don't think you can. I wanna see STFT, load, and throttle %. get rid of speed.

You seem to be running pretty rich for a bit. Also, did you let off the throttle during that log?

houstonrx8er 07-05-2012 04:57 PM

I wouldn't say I "let off" per-say I was just cruising and hit the log button....the road wasn't particularly smooth.

I will update the log list and get some more logs tonight if I can

9krpmrx8 07-05-2012 05:04 PM

Oh okay, hills will do that. try to keep them short, like 15-30 seconds. Finding a perfectly flat spot is surprisingly tough believe it or not.

houstonrx8er 07-05-2012 05:09 PM

is there any particular speed or rpm or anything like that that is beneficial?

my other logs were done with the intent of capturing the whole RPM range under both low and high loads..... guess i was wrong :)

9krpmrx8 07-05-2012 05:16 PM

Do them in 500RPM increments from 1000RPM up, 30 seconds each. It gets tricky

Do you have a good idle log with the car warmed up?

9krpmrx8 07-05-2012 05:20 PM

Oh and if you have time.

Mixture and adaptation

houstonrx8er 07-05-2012 05:28 PM

holy crap you want me to post all those?

I had an idle log but I cant find it, I will do that as well.

I iwll read that after dinner :)

9krpmrx8 07-05-2012 05:33 PM

Just post an idle log first before you try all the others  Consider this practice.

ok so here are some logs....first is idle, 2nd is stationary but rev'd to 4k....third I had some idle issues so I hit log again

olddragger 07-05-2012 08:29 PM

the first one was that a full throttle run?
It is was--you have problems:(.
what kind of intake do you have?
Do you have screens in the intake?
. Maybe some turbulence in there?
Its all over the place, lean in some spots and the grams per sec of air flow is low.

houstonrx8er 07-05-2012 09:33 PM

I do not beleive so.
lovely:(
I have the AEM and yes I have the screens

does that mean the MAF is going bad?...should I look at its voltage?

9krpmrx8 07-05-2012 11:51 PM

Your STFT's are off on the second idle log. It could be a slight vacuum leak.

vukovi 07-06-2012 02:49 AM

AT tranny rebuild

Thanks, for the 2 1/8 measurement. duh... I bought a 750 lb engine stand from harbor feight for $45. Once the block is mounted the tourque issue should resolve itself and I can break it open. Ill update pics as I progress. Thanks for the 2 1/8 measurement refrence as all the other sizes have been in MM. Ill check sears tomorrow.

I am slso customizing my 3rd gen 4 runner while Im rebuilding the mazda ;) I just ordered an in dash mountable CB and im working on mounting a coil over whip with possibly dual front/rear antenna. And illl be adding a state of the art 1 DIN reciever above it for a 2DIN stack with a stealth CB set up ranging over 20 miles... makes for a headache in keeping up with what the poopin crappin I am doing ;)

houstonrx8er 07-06-2012 07:47 AM

lol...is that cb the kind you can interfere with other peoples radios?....my buddy and I use to do that with his when I was in HS....funny as shit pull up next to someone and start talking to them through their radio :)

good luck!

so vacuum has slightly improved to 15psi.....I did find possible source the other day but it was a long shot and obviously didnt fix the issue

UIM is coming off again and I think I am just going to use your vacuum tester on every freaking line

hoss -05 07-06-2012 08:09 AM

Glad to hear it is improving.

olddragger 07-06-2012 08:28 AM

vacuum 15 at idle? Then that would explain the grams per sec being on the low side.
Do you think it may be time for a compression test?
You have the aem air filter and screens so there shouldnt be any turbulence in the intake system bad enough to mess with the maf.
The grams per sec should never waver like that--it should be a steady increase as the rpm builds ( during wot) at least that is how I understand it.
Vacuum leak? I guess that is possible but I dont think thats it? Dont know for sure, but I would be surprised.
Interesting and appreciate your sharing.

I am going to do a compression test next week if this weekend doesnt reveal anything.

I did do 3 logs on the way to work and the 5k log had the AFR's drop to 12.0 and then up to 15.2......that was at steady throttle. Is that a sign that there is not enough air?

9krpmrx8 07-06-2012 09:19 AM

Wonky AFR's are not normal if you were on reasonably flat ground. A vacuum of 15 is not good if you are sure you don't have a significant vacuum leak, that is about where my last engine was when I was having trouble. I think a compression test is on order just so you can see what is really up.

I would contact Jose and see if he can do it personally to make sure it's done right.

houstonrx8er 07-06-2012 09:49 AM

jose who? at ingram?
