if the a/f's are varying that much with no change in the throttle/ rpm/load then you have a fuel problem or a BIG intermittent vacuum leak.
I guess it could be the FP--but they just usually die--i havent seen them wax and wane like that.
Maybe injectors--dont know?
How old is the front o2 sensor?
I think it is good to get a real compression test--but even on a low compression engine i dont think the numbers would look like they do?

shadycrew31 07-06-2012 10:14 AM

IIRC 15 at idle is perfect for a ported engine...

Hey you made sure the apv gear magnet thingy was set to 1 o'clock position yes?

olddragger 07-06-2012 10:17 AM

Oh--ported engine--how big are the ports? Why such low grams per sec--if all the lim valves are opening?

9krpmrx8 07-06-2012 10:17 AM

Well....... let's start with replacing the fuel pump just for GP and checking for vacuum leaks.

houstonrx8er 07-06-2012 10:41 AM

called NP and they said there is no Joes in service....she did sound kind of ditsy :(

I will run over there today/tomorrow morning if avaliable.....do you know Jose well or just trust him?

I just ordered a FP, Charles is shipping it to me now

Injectors were cleaned/serviced for this rebuild

front OT is proabably old....I can only remember replacing the rear.

thats the plan :).....shrimp and jalapenos will be on the grill for lunch :)

houstonrx8er 07-06-2012 01:44 PM

Ok geting a compression test at 8pm tonight :)

post some results when I get home.....this may turn in to a engine pull weekend.....:lol2:

9krpmrx8 07-06-2012 01:56 PM

Awesome dude!

olddragger 07-06-2012 03:51 PM

hope not!
It may be worth it to check that front 02 sensor. It could be messed up?
It probably went through a lot while all that hard starting stuff was going on?
Just another thing on the trouble shooting list. I know how you feel:)

shadycrew31 07-06-2012 04:13 PM

I'll bring my spare front 02 so we can test it out.

houstonrx8er 07-06-2012 04:23 PM

good call and thanks Shady.

I will post the results around 9ish but things are getting worse...I can feel more hesitation, more blips and what not so something is failing and I am not confident its compression (but then again I am completely ignorant).

on the p0661 SSV circuit low code would that cause the SSV do mechanically do anyhting funky? or is it basically open or closed?....that would affect AFR's right

9krpmrx8 07-06-2012 04:30 PM

I don't think it's compression but that is just a gut feeling. Well we have plenty of spare parts around so if it's not compression then whatever needs to be replaced can be.

shadycrew31 07-06-2012 04:38 PM

I seriously don't see how it can be compression.

houstonrx8er 07-06-2012 05:09 PM

I am not feeling compression either...that was my issue before and this is NOTHING like it

need to start a tip jar or something to compensate :)

or I can just feed you and get you drunk?

olddragger 07-06-2012 06:46 PM

Both and I will be over as soon as I can--should be about 16 hrs!
jk......

houstonrx8er 07-06-2012 06:58 PM

ha......I will post you a pic

shadycrew31 07-06-2012 09:26 PM

My psychic abilities allow me to foresee the future...

*MOTHER SON OF A HOOKER!!!!!!!!!!!!

houstonrx8er 07-06-2012 09:43 PM

ok so I suck and shady is the master of telling the future :)

compression sucked ass and the motor is coming out tomorrow

front rear
440 520
440 470
430 470

I am going with either side seals or corner seals are still glued....but as everone has wittnessed my fortunetelling skilles are about as good as my compression

on a more positive note I look forward to doing this again, I just hope not to find that housings/irons got fucked up

houstonrx8er 07-07-2012 12:11 AM

garage is prep'd and ready to go...here we go again....hopefully learn more this time :)

oh and I can get my cooler flushed now :)

J8635621 07-07-2012 06:46 AM

Has SARX ever gotten anything right the first time? /troll

houstonrx8er 07-07-2012 07:13 AM

then it wouldnt be the sarx way......we are kinetic learners....not audio or visual :)

I might as well slap a turbo on it while its out right????

olddragger 07-07-2012 08:04 AM

NO! :)
Sorry man but these are the lessons that you remember well.
I bet the seals are still glued down some --dont have the full range of motion.
Well at least now you know.....

houstonrx8er 07-07-2012 09:04 AM

well it tis what it tis and honestly (excluding the pain in the ass) I think this is a good exersize. it wont be as bad as it was last time because I wont have to clean 60k miles of gunk off of everything and I know what I am getting into :) (i was alittle overwhelmed last time....TMI)
