Now your talking my language Pictures lmao. Looks like you be on your way to a great start . Housins looking sexy lol .. I hear some guys freeze bearing before pressing do you know why ? Mine where frozen I didn't question guy since he has been building for over 30 years and his cars are wow bad ass . His son Jeremy lowe is a rookie drifter look him up. Anyways good luck Bro

houstonrx8er 08-12-2012 01:08 AM

never heard of that but I am just going to follow the manual :) keep is easy

good luck to you as well.

shadycrew31 08-12-2012 01:24 AM

I have a new addition to my sig.

also freezing them makes them slightly smaller so they press in easier. they obviously still need to be cold when you try and press them in.

houstonrx8er 08-12-2012 09:06 AM

damn Shady, you really do seem to be the only one here with a straight up answer :)

and I understand the concept of freezing them but does that actually make a difference? probably cant hurt thats for sure

If you heat up the iron and freeze the bearing it would make it very easy to press in.

also it makes it easier to press out, say for suspension bushing sleeves...

houstonrx8er 08-12-2012 11:57 AM

^did you try that prior to your flaming bushing expierence

Well I had to burn the rubber bits out and set the parts that came out on fire so I could get the inner sleeve.

To get the actual collar sleeve whatever its called pressed out of the control arm took a variety of techniques.

LOL no, installing those is on the list though, I'm going to get the diff microblued while its out...

I was talking the upper and lower control arms... Imagine the diff bushings x4 but much smaller.

if you do get those get the softer of the two shore hardness ones avail - unless you enjoy lots of vibration transfer ...

dannobre 08-13-2012 01:56 AM

If you use an air chisel to remove the bushings it is quite a bit easier :)

Yea I was afraid to do that to the front arms I didn't want to damage the arm.
