You mean no periods of insanity that allow higher than 7K rpms? What--am I on the right forum--did I get on that diesal truck forum again by mistake? Dang.

A mazmart engine beats your buddy's one 10 to 1, probably for a similar price too.
It's not always that smart to tackle a build without knowing what to buy and how to determine what works and what doesn't. You clearly lack this knowledge, so does your "buddy" since you're wasting time asking here and didn't resort to him in the first place. And his engines the one he builts have been great, I seen his dailies and track car move nicely and guess what,, PASS AFTER PASS AFTER PASS AFTER PASS AND PASS AND NEXT EVENT AND PASS, so his doing something right . |
Pass after pass as in drag cars? If he's building a street renesis with that criteria i'd say that he's doing something wrong instead.
Btw, an "expensive"\comprehensive rebuild costs around 4000$ in parts without going crazy with expensive bits. Start from there and hope to spend less. |

O no doudt I know im wasting my time here asking , only sometimes and right now my buddy is tackling 2 engine swaps 1 was his own that he was trying to get done by today to race tonight and he coudlnt since his son got hurt real bad at work and wont be able to walk for 3 months or so , So right now im not mentioning no engine no work no rebuild no nothing and just been their for him, And I love to ask questions the more I know when I open engine up the better it is, My buddy told me once engine is open he will tell me what I need, I just get anxious on price Im prepare for anything but Im trying to zike my self and hoping it will be cheaper than I thought so I can continue dumping more money on my RX3..v

its funny you say that as I just bought "used" housings from Atkins with new apex seals (I didnt really have an option on the apex seals but couldnt pass up housings in great shape for the price
if I measure the e-shaft and its all good I may not balance the assembly. I do drive the shit out of my car but all of the assembly pieces are being reused. Would mazda assembe somehting that is that out of wack......wait...I need to retract that statement. He dont even Know what a Forum is .. or Face Book or nothing he lives in his garage since we were 16 years old messing with Rotaries, he has even been called to the Mazda dealers to check out cars for them only if customers seem ok, So I have never balanced my previous none Renessis Rotary engines and they been great for a long long time, Miles unknown, Good luck with built and hope it turns out great . sorry I sound slow Im typing from my phone while customers talk to me LOL |
Please stop spreading misinformation.

dude I think your intentions are good and all--but you have been posting here a little while and you should know by now that the rx8 engine is a different animal. When it come to building them, there are things that you have to do differently. So by saying how great other engines are doing --it really doesnt
relate to us. I dont understand why some folks think that no balancing is required? Can someone explain that to me? |

I don't think Brian (BDC) can dynamically balance the engine...it takes specialize equipment that is quite expensive. Not sure who can do it out there.....I'm sure Mazmart can...
|
Mazmart does balancing too ---- forgot how much tho.
BDC/Brian knows his stuff too. I had my FC's iron ported by him, work of magic :) |
It looks like he does balancing at least looking at his website.
If it is so important why don't more ppl offer it (equipment $ I assume) |

yea, I am in houston now and tomorrow we are going to do a formal measurment of the e-shaft.
I think the balancing will be worth doing just for informational purposes. "How balanced is a (or mine) reman assembly???" gonna have to see how the budget plays out at that point in time. |
Start by weighing your rotors, I am curious how close they are in weight.
|
damnit I forgot them
|
I have a fancy baking scale (flaming tollerated now) i will weight them when I get back home (not sure if it accurate enough but it is a really nice scale up to 11lbs)
|
It should be fine to just determine the weight difference between the two rotors. I need to get a proper scale.
|
I have one that measures down to .1mg....but maxes out at 160g so that doesnt help
