Seafoaming....

Hello everyone, I am the proud new owner of an 05 and long time lurker. Today I was attempting my second DIY found on this fine website (first being the MAF/IAT sensor cleaning) when i encountered a problem. I had the air box out of the way, air pump sensors off and 1st nipple hooked up to a hose, but when it came to removing the ESPS it just wouldn't budge. Luckily i had not added anything into the rotor housing's yet. Is there some kind of trick to taking that bastard off? Gonna have another go at it soon...

Since its on the bottom of the engine it's gonna have gunk holding it in. Only help I can give is, I removed mine by going from under the car.

don't use them at all. go through the vacuum line at the upper intake manifold just behind the MAF.

Have a pic of what you are talking about so you can show the OP so he knows how to do it.

you've got three lines on the intake tube ... one (for 2004s and 2005s) is the breather coming from your oil pan. Of the remaining two one takes you to the exact same place that the nipples go to (right into the housing) and the other gets you to the OMP.

Doing both should clean your chambers and your OMP.... Search a little and you'll find a couple threads on it... That's how I figured it out :P

Sorry if I am misunderstanding, I thought removing the ESPS was essential for this procedure as it cuts spark and fuel?

It is.... I'm not sure what the other 2 guys are talking about... looks like they got the question mixed up with where you are adding the seafoam (they are right though, you can add it to the lines mentioned above)

Sorry can't really give anymore help on unplugging the ESPS, except for trying to unplug it from under the car.

moete87, here is what I think you are looking for.

And I think this is the threads ShellDude was referring to.

Ok, thanks a bunch! I don't know why mine won't budge, I have not tried jacking it up yet to go at it from below. I was reading that there may be fuses to disconnect instead, is this another option or no? Sorry if the questions are wrong/silly, I am learning as much as a can as quick as I can. My last car was a tool that barely functioned to get me from a to b, I performed regular oil changes, and a coolant flush or two along with basic bolt and swaps. This car is a masterpiece and I want to treat it right. As a result my limited wrenching skills are being severely tested.

I don't think there is a fuse you can pull that disables the ignition system, and still allows the car to crank. I remember the first time I seafoamed I had the same problem as you, couldn't get the ESPS plug off. So I tried pulling fuses but couldn't find one that would work. So I got under the car and went at it.

Another way I thought of doing this was to unplug each coils little wire harness to disable the ignition. (but don't hold me responsible if this hurts your car, cause I am unsure what exactly would happen and never tried it)

Yeah, i'm just gonna jack it up, I just am not a huge fan of it cause my last car was fairly rusted and my last jacking experience (restrain yourselves...) nearly ended catastrophically for my torso. Thanks for all the help!

pull the fuel pump fuse... same procedure as used for deflooding. you can also let it suck in about a 1/3 of a can by just putting the vacuum line into the seafoam can while its running and leave it connected for another 30 or so seconds.

Mine refuses to run if I'm dumping seafoam into the chamber. Surprised you had issues with the fuel pump relay (its under the hood) pulled.

just used plier to remove/disconnect the ESPS, pull it gently, no worries it'll not brake the connector.. you can do it from the top without jacking the car up.. just remove the intake first like nygcps pic below:
