Seal broke on slave cylinder for clutch
Classic Mazda east, Orlando, FL says $300
the vehicle has 51k miles.
Is it covered under warrenty?
Friends car, told him to check to see, rather then paying the money they want.

$300 is a bit steep. The slave cylinder is external to the bellhousing and you can change it by just jacking up the car, removing it, replacing it, and bleeding the system.

how did you find out it was broken?
Just curious as to how you found out it was broken...what symptoms were you having? I feel something is wrong with my clutch, just can't pinpoint it. I feel my clutch has become softer and the friction point lower for the past several weeks. I've been debating whether to bring it in to the dealership to get it checked out, but don't want to waste time if there's nothing to worry about.
