Series I PCM-ECU Part Number Listings
I have been asked many times for a OEM Part Numbers for RX-8 ECU or PCM.
These are ALL the updated Series 1 Mazda OEM Part Numbers for the North American market.
Some now are not brand new but re-manufactured and tested units, those have a 'R0' at end of Part Number.
The Re-man units from Mazda also has a $200 'core' return/deposit which is refunded when old unit is returned or supplied back.
Contrary to popular belief there is more than 1 Genuine PCM for the Series 1 RX-8.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION S1..
N3ZC-18-881R0K California 4 speed
N3ZA-18-881R0K Federal 2005
N3ZR-18-881N California 6 speed to November 12th 2007.
N3ZT-18-881N Federal-Canada 2008
MANUAL TRANSMISSION S1..
N3ZD-18-881R0J California 2005
N3ZB-18-881J Federal 2005
N3ZP-18-881L California 2008
N3ZS-18-881L Federal-Canada 2008
IF you are after exact confirmation on which new ECU/PCM to order, please PM me your FULL VIN #.
Please Note: The tear off or 'stuck on' Part Number(s) label that Mazda installed or used originally on your car at production may/has changed, the new or reman units have a different issued part number, see new replacement lists above.
This applies to most vehicle installed parts on your car which in most cases does not resemble the issued replacement part number.
IF you are buying a used or a part out PCM/ECU as long as the Part Number is the same as your original, all will be fine, it will still have to be configured though with Mazda IDS.

thanks alot. But i have neither of to two numbers. I found a document from the dealer with a note that my PCM is an N3Z6 and i bought the car with a blown N3H8. The problem is that i bought a new N3H8 from the internet and it blew up the moment i connected the battery. Is it possible that the pcm blows if its not compatible with the original number. I'm really confused on what to do next.
thanks again

One has to be VERY careful when quoting numbers on the actual electric device as they don't always correspond with either what is on the outside of the box (Mazda Part Number) and what is the Tear Off Tag on the actual part itself or what is listed in Mazda EPC.
What I quoted was from a Genuine Mazda EU EPC for your VIN Number and as I said it could superseded to another part number label on the outside BOX with a different number on actual part inside box, this does not mean it is wrong.
As I do not have the EU specific Part in my hand physically I can not confirm what it might say inside the parts box, but the part number I quoted you for your car from EPC is correct (and could superseded to a later part number).
I suggest you PHONE a Mazda Dealer and quote the two part numbers and see which one they list and if the part number changes.
Just for reference ECUs/PCM's between Manual Transmissions and Auto Transmissions are not the same and never install either thinking you can get them to work (not saying you have).
EDIT: As you have not said there is a possibility that there are other problems that are not PCM related and perhaps why it 'blew up', and you must be very careful buying PCM online from other sources, as you have a 5 speed they were sold only in EU/UK and Japan and have specific PCM's.

As you are in Lebanon there is a possibility that the part numbers the 'Dealer' said (I guess it is a Mazda Dealer?) may be correct.

Please help
Hello, I am having major issues with a 05 rx8 AT my ABS is continuing to run and I have it unplugged, so my speedometer doesn't work. Now I'm not sure if it's because of the speedometer but my cart won't shift out of first gear but I have no AT light on the dash. I do have PS, ABS, E Brake, and check engine. The jerk I bought the car from has a pcm N3K8-18-881 programed to the car but the dealership looked up my Vin and they say I should have the N3CZ-18-881 could this be the cause of my no shift problem or once the pcm and ECU accept each other ive been told it must be the right one if it accepted it. Please let me know what you think.
Thank you.
Thank you.

2005 rx8 automatic pcm number
Hey, I'm wanting to find a compatible pcm for my 05 automatic right hand drive. Currently has n3j5 but I cannot find a single one with that code anywhere.
VIN number is JM0FE103100104071I see heaps of n3k8 ECU's available online but unsure if they will work for me.
Any information regarding what ecu I can buy would be great. I have Mazda iDS and am familiar with how to transfer and flash the pcm.

CORRECT MAZDA PART NUMBER from Mazda EPC is N3Z5-18-881K for VIN quoted.
This number may supersede if you buy new from Mazda Parts Dealer.
Remember the part number label on ECU currently in your car does not always correspond to the actual new replacement Mazda Part Number, and no there is no cross reference.
And just in case, an Auto PCM can not be used in any Mazda trans RX-8 and visa versa.

N3M5-18-881D is the OUTSIDE Label on your PCM/ECU?, there is NO Cross Reference in Mazda Parts Cat, that is what I said above in red did I not?
N3M5 appears to be the one for, MT Series 1 for NORTH AMERICA, IF THAT IS YOUR RX8 THEN YES .
