shift **** stuck

i put a aftermarket **** on a while ago, well i recently took my car to the dealer to get the e-brake handle replaced and i guess he reinstalled the **** on too tight bc now i cant get it off and my whole shifter assy is rotating(the whole shaft moves and the **** moves with it).....its still shifts fine though.....any ideas how to get it off without hurting anything or is it already to late what could be broken on the shifter for it to just spin like that? thanks

ok....so it moves up and down about half an inch....and im not talking about moving it down like you get in reverse. its like it goes up stops stays in like a indent then all the gears work even reverse will go in when i push down(while its still in the up indent) then i can move it in the down detent and all the gears work also....

i'd start with a dremel and a cut off wheel... the **** is stripped out and you'll spend days trying to get it off.
