some of the initial product literature showed a shift arrow for the mtx cars. It didn't make it to the U.S. cars but I'm not sure about other areas of the world.

For $20 an hour, I'll sit in your back seat and smack you in the back of your head as the needle sweeps 8500RPM.

The only light you get is a reflection.

If you look closely you'll see blue around 6,000 RPM and then again around 7,500.

You only get the blue flash when your accellerating fairly rapidly.

Many people don't know it's there, but yes you can see it.

I rarely notice it because I keep my eye on the road, listen to the engine, and for the beep when I'm pushing it.

Yep, just an artifact. It's just the blue LED reflecting off the tach needle.

If you want the shift light, you could probably tap the wire that sends power to this beeper so a LED bulb would power up as you hear the beep.

That's not the shift up light. That's the "<Scottie voice> Cap'n, the engines can't take Warp 10! </Scottie voice>" light.

Actually, be glad there isn't a shift up light. I had one in my 2nd gen RX-7 which came on at something like 3K RPMS. It was the most annoying feature of the car.

Besides, this is a rotary engine. The redline is only a "suggestion" . Personally, I use the fuel cutoff as the shift indicator. :D
