Reading the CarFax on an 04 I want to purchase indicates the Short Block was replaced about 30K miles ago...
I did not know what that meant and searched the web ... very easy to find what it means for a piston engine. But even searching this forum I am unsure what it means for the Rotary. Does it mean the same as the core? Or does it mean the whole engine was replaced?
And is this a good thing for me if I buy this 8? It is out of warranty.
Thanks ...

The short block is basically the same as it would be on a piston engine...so basically it is the engine block stripped of everything that doesn't rotate when the motor is running...so intake manifolds, OMP, wiring harnesses, alternator etc etc ![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Finding an 04 in that area that hasn't had a rebuild is unlikely really....seems like the hot climates are rebuild heaven
