Frank,
At least you perdicted it! Yep I broke it. Part is supposed to come in tomorrow. 10% additional cost for next day. The only other option was no extra cost and sometime after the first of the year. Wish me luck in the install. Looks simple. That's what I'm afraid of.
And the "love", yep it's there. :D I just hope I'm not rememberd by this poster on the board ...

Maurice! You da man!
By the way, the part they gave me was slightly different. The parts guy exhusted lots of effort verifying that the part was the correct one. He said it was an updated part and showed as a valid replacement for my existing part. He had no explination for the change in part from Mazda. The strange thing was that it had different "guides" on the underside. This amounted to the new part mounts at a 45 degree angle rotation from the previous part. But no CEL. Hope I got this right!

Your damaged part is a boost sensor, MAP sensor, baro sensor: all of the above. Mazda calls it different names ata different times and in different applications. This is IMHO one of Mazda's biggest problems (Communication). Mazda's engineer's in Japan vs publishers of manuals and the folks who do the diagnostic programs all seem to speak different languages; and I don't mean english vs japanese. When I worked at the dealer years ago we'd get a code, follow the directions of the manual, perform the necessary tests, determine if a part replacement was in order and if so, what part. At times I'd get to the parts department and they'd say "a boost sensor, what's a boost sensor?" only to find it was being called something different on their system.
If Mazda can organise letting it's hands know what it's feet are doing it would help tremendously.
Sorry I got so carried away. Anyhow this part is shared with a number of other Mazdas including the Millenia from whence it came (KL47 is a 2.5 Millenia designation). Tomorrow I'll check whether there is a part supersession or not when I'm back at work. Just to make sure this parts guy sold you the correct item; some of these guys are novices although it isn't as easy as it should be to look this stuff up nowadays.

I would apprecaite it. I'm pretty confident that the parts guy got all necessary data before making his final decision. We even checked out the existing part under the hood. He liked the painted covers and asked how i like the tires! But a second opinion would be great!

What i dont understand is: When i unplug the baro sensor it throws the traction control system off. I get the sliding car logo on the dash if i pull it, and the light goes away when it plugs in... my question is, what does the barometric pressure sensor have to do with the traction control system.
