Some help? (compression test, misfires, cat)

Ok, My 8 has been acting weird lately. It misfires (hot start only). So i took it to T&R Racing. (i don't hear good things about them on this site) Well he told me..

1. He did a compression test with a regular compression tester and he said the engine was fine.

2. My CAT is clogged. Thats why i was getting hot start problems. (continues to recommend i get one from the dealer) which is not happening.

3. Decarb it

3. And i should get my plugs, wires and coils replaces.

Now heres the swing to it. i took it to Garden City Mazda to get a compression test done on it. and i was told that they don't have the original guy doing it anymore its a new guy. and he told me my engine was gone and gave me readings so low that my car should not be able to even start cold. but it does. So I'm a little concerned in wondering who is lieing and who isn't. Mazda did tell me my coils where worn and i should get that done also. Anyone know anyone trust worthy Shop i can take my 8 to in New york

where in ny? im not far from the border in pa and may be able to help. how many miles on your ignition? coils plugs and wires are the most common cause of misfires. failing ignition leads to clogged cat which leads to failed engine.

what year is your 8? mileage? maintence history?

Even if your ignition ISN'T causing misfires, at 30k, stock ignition is down ~30whp. But yeah, your ignition is most likely the source of the problems, although your cat is probably dead as a result too.
