Spark plug anti-fouler O2 trick for CEL with no cat?

So I saw this link in a for sale thread, decided to read it and found it interesting.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthr...hlight=cel+fix

Has anyone tried something like this for the rx8 to install a non-cat midpipe and had success with no CEL? Anyone know or think if this would work? I'm kind of intrigued by it.

I was talking to a friend and he said the reason he thinks it works is if the unburnt fuel does not hit the O2 directly it wont care. Does this sound right? This is essentially taking the O2 out of the direct path of the exhaust gases and leaving a small opening for anything to travel to the O2.

I'm just wondering if this would work on an rx8 or not. Only rx8 person I've seen do this is the guy in the for sale post, but he only ran it for a day, no CEL. I'm just wondering about long term.

Input?

I have the B & B midpipe and tried this trick. It works. No CEL so far. I used the drill bit supplied with the Racing Beat end link kit to bore it out. It's the perfect size.

Hmm... It's so tempting to go ahead and try it out, but then again if it ends up not working or lasting, it'll suck

Maybe I should just cop out and get the high flow cat midpipe, though I prefer not to...

For a $3.99 mod, it's worth a try. I hacked off the top of the anti-fouler so that my O2 sensor extends about 1/16th into the exhaust stream.
