Arrow Spark plugs

Tried searching on this but alas no pot o' gold.

Now I'm not one to put cheap parts in anything, especially my 8, but hearing people talk about $150 spark plugs just makes me wanna (quite literally)

So my question is: where do you guys usually get your plugs and what's the running price? I've seen everything from $12 to $54 for a single leading NGK plug and I just want to know if there's really a reason for that. (compare mazsport to mazdatrix... why would I pay 4-5x more for the same stuff?)

Thanks!

www.sparkplugs.com

Best site for bang for the buck.

But then again Atkins Rotary (who is a Vendor here) had a special for a set of 4.

i asked around to several local places. Auto zone, o-reily etc. nope. Advance i had to order them and they were $31 a piece. I was just looking to pick up some but since i had to order them, I just ordered a set from sparkplugs.com. I think $86 total shipped.

Is ti strange that on sparkplugs.com I can't find any spark plugs? lol...

I searched for my 06 RX8 and came up with this:

Apparently they only have a clutch assembly for me.

i asked advance and they were like $31 a piece to order. O-reily was around $20 or so but also had to order.

Another question. does the plugs come pre-gapped?
i don't have my SParkplug gapper handy.
later

Weird thing about advanced is, they seem to price thing differently by zipcode.

When I searched their online store, I saw 2 different prices (20$ and 31$) with 2 different zip codes (areas side by side). Messed up.

They are pre-gapped and should only be used at that gap. .45 I think (but dont hold me to that, Im not 100% sure)

p.s. No one will hold these in store stock. NO ONE, ordering is easy though through stores.
Im talking about brick and mortar here. Online stores dont count

I suppose I could sell them at $80 a set, shipped...............

I also encourage people to check the gaps. They are supposed to be at .044" and the plugs are rarely gapped properly out-of-the-box.

As for gapping, Dan Atkin's experiences and mine are quite different in this regard. He believes they are pre-gapped and I believe they are not. For the cost of a 99-cent gapping tool, I prefer to check them as the notion that NGK pre-gaps their plugs has been around since I worked in a 'cycle shop and we used to distill the same information back then when selling ANY spark plugs. I have seen my own come out of the box off by .010" sometimes. The major caveat in this regard is to be VERY careful with the Iridium tips as they are fragile.

Just kidding. All 4 plugs, two trails and two leads in the factory heat ranges.

Yeah just about everyone ask that question when they see the prices for the first time. There are 2 reasons. First, the OEM plugs have Iridium at the electrodes, which is a rare metal (more so than Platinum, I believe). The second, probably bigger reason is that it's an uncommon plug, not interchangeable with others. Not much of a market for a competitor to spring up. So NGK charge what the market will bear. And the dealer steps up for sloppy seconds.

Sparkplugs.com makes it at least semi-bearable.

Nah, depends on your local driving condition, if you see a lot of stop and go traffic, change it Sooner rather than later, typical service life for these plugs are around 30K miles.

but I change mine every 15K
