"Special" oil used for break-in?

A friend of mine told me that manufacturers now use a special oil or additive in the engine which is why they actually don't want you changing the oil before the recommended first oil change time.

Bunk or is there truth to this?

Audi does it...

I know for a fact that Audi does put "Break-in" oil in their cars. As for anyone else...

rx8 didn't have special break in oil to my knowledge
