speed limiter

My car doesn't have one.. What speed are you limiting out on? You should be able to get to 148 - 150ish.. in an MT The car just doesn't have enough power to overcome drag beyond that .

Yeah, the only "speed limiter" would be the fuel cutoff for 5th/6th gear and I doubt you can even achieve that unless you're running in theoretical conditions. Either way, why in the world would you ever need to go over like 160 or whatever this car's capable of?
Edit: Just read your post and I've never heard of such a problem. Then again, I've never spoken to someone who has taken their AT to a track. Putting such a low limit on a sports car is pretty lame though. You're not running into the redline in 4th, are you?

Ive had my MT up to 131 and it was still accelerating, but slowly- I think stock you would hit a power to drag limit at around 150.
I am going to be moving to Europe next year though, and probably putting on a turbo, so those speeds are realistic on the autobahn (at least in spots... contrary to popular belief, there ARE speed limits on much of it).

The only reason I can think of as to why the A/T would have a speed limiter or govenor is that maybe the trans is not stong enough to handle such speeds thus the lower HP rating.
found this that may help:
"Automobiles are a common application, and modern automobiles are equipped with such a mechanism for various reasons. There are two types of automobile governors, one limiting the rotational speed of the engine, the other limiting the speed of the vehicle. In small, low power applications, governors are used to protect the engine from damage due to excessive rotational speed, or pushing the engine past its peak abilities. In larger, higher performance engines governors are used to limit the vehicle speed. Many performance cars are limited to a speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) to limit insurance costs and/or to reduce pollution."

Is there a specific model number of the HKS SLD for the RX8 6MT or is it simply a standard Type 1?

There is a govennor in the 8's and in most cars... its basically so you dont totaly maxxx your car and risk the chance of doing damage to your motor or driving way to fast and well crashing... I believe the 8 in 6th gear governs at 6500-7000 RPM. I cant remember exactly but when i take it out in march I'll let you know...lol

there is no traditional 'speed' governer on the US model of the car...of course there is the rev limiter which could be considered a speed limiter in 6th gear...if u can ever reach it
