Steering Knocking Noise - Problem FIXED

For details see my original post https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/clonking-knocking-going-over-bumps-156290/

Basically the knocking noise was finally found to be a faulty steering rack after changing it for another one in desperation.

My car has done 6125 miles and is 19 months old.

Thought I would post the solution as it was so hard to find I think they almost gave up because you wouldn't expect it to be the rack lol

Good Day, Im Having a similar issue, little elevations in the road and bumps, will cause this ungodly rattle noise. You can almost feel it in the steering as well. However when I'm up to speed on smooth highways with little ups and downs the car holds really well with no sound. I've had two suspension shops check it out, and they said that the suspension components are in good shape. They did say however that my caliper pins needed greasing which I assume is for a totally unrelated minor problem, it was just a suspension check up after all. Im beginning to suspect its my Steering Rack, but before I replace the whole thing, is there a way to change out the bad component instead ?

Hello there, you ever figure out what the problem was? I'm having the same issue the noise is unpleasant when driving?
