Tearing into the motor: few questions
So let's just start by saying long and ridiculous story short my 8 got hydrolocked, finally got around to tearing open the motor and I know you will all say replace the motor but I'm in high school and I simply can't afford it.
Anyways what I found in the first housing is that the apex seal was dislodged when the water hit it, causing it to instantly lock up and stop the motor. Thankfully, with close inspection there seems to be no scarring of any kind on the walls or rotor itself, except for a bit of gunk in there from the water. My question is do I need to replace the rest of the seals? Or just the ones that are misplaced? How do I measure the clearances to see if they are in spec?
Also, the rear housing is obviously stuck because of those two dowels making it so I can't rotate the housing to clear the crank. I see that the dowels seem to be threaded for a bolt or something to thread into them and pull them out...what size are these threads or what tool do I need to pull them?
Any help would be great...thanks!
