Question Is there any workshop that can clean this aftermarket air filter?

I bought a used 2005 RX8 last September. I did 3000miles service this week at Long Beach Mazda.

But the service adviser told that the air filter is aftermarket, so that they cannot clean it.

I attach the photo of the air filter. Does any one know any workshop in or around Los Angeles can do this service?

Thank you very much in advance.

Are you saying that I can order the kit online and clean it by myself?

Is there any step-by-step manual ?

Thank you!!

I checked on Amazon and I found two kits.

http://www.amazon.com/995000-Aerosol...0357335&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/K-N-99-5050-Fi...gy_auto_text_b

Which one do I need?

Is anything else I need?

Thank you again.

Either one. The only difference is that the first kit has the filter oil in a spray can, the second kit has it in a squeeze bottle. I would advise getting the second kit with the squeeze bottle. It is very important to NOT over-oil the filter after you clean it and I would think that with the spray can it would be too easy to over oil. Too much oil and some of it may find it's way into the intake tunnel and the IAT/MAF sensor unit causing problems.

Thanks snipaz2420, tajabaho1, and Go48.

I got the recharger kit with the spray can from Auto Zone.
Thanks Go48 for your reminding. I will be careful when I do that.

The final question is....how to take out the filter?

It seems different from here:

Thank you!

I expect someone here will chime in on how to remove the filter element, but if not, contact Racing Beat and ask them for the instruction sheet. Explain that you bought the car with their filter on it and would like to know how to remove the element.

I received the instruction sheet pdf from racing beat. I cleaned the air filter by K&N instructions. Maybe I used too much oil on my filter. The engine light was on after I installed the air filter. Then I bought the CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner and cleaned the MAF sensor. The MAF cleaner was very easy to use. The engine light is off now.

Thank you very much!
