Is there a new flash?
Before Mugato yells at me to search, I did.
I've been running on the recall flash for a few months. I took my car in last month for a rough idle and it had the current flash then. The idle cleared up then, the dealer having done nothing.
It was idling rough again yesterday, so I stopped by today. It was idling better today- dealer couldn't find any codes stored, but they said they found an updated flash and flashed the PCM.
Any news about this flash? What does it do that's new?
On this idle issue I'm having, I suspect either the plugs or the motor mounts, but the dealer hasn't found a problem. The rough idle goes away on the trip to the dealership.

They couldn't tell me what it did, just that it was new.
On driving, subjectively it feels like it has better low-rpm response in lower gears than the last one, but that could just be the PCM reset talking.

Just got my motor mounts replaced today and couldn't believe how much smoother it idles afterwards. I have only have my 8 for about a week and was thinking that the rough idle was normal. I am glad I didn't go on driving it that way any longer than I did.
There are many different "rough idles" described in various threads around here. Mine was one you could really "feel" in the back of the seat, especially bad everytime the AC compressor would cycle on. RPM's never fluctuated though. Now I can't feel anything whatsoever in the seat while idling.

there is a new flash after the recall flash, my recall flash was N3M5-18881-F i think, now i flashed it onto G or H by now, i forget sometimes the IDS doesnt tell me what the flash is for it just jumps right into it, ive flashed mazda3's with false DTCS like P0128....that bitch code......and cx7s for a lack of power b4 turbo kick in and they TELL me what the flash is for, sometimes they dont thats just how it is.
they update the calibration every time i turn around, dont try to keep track, even i get lost
if u wanted ur pcm up to date each time there was a reflash ud be at the dealer every 4-5 weeks.......

I looked at my invoice- no indication of the flash version, just that the tech found a version newer than the one I had and flashed it. I don't have a scan tool either. They at least reset the PCM.
This dealership has been honest with me in the past, I don't see any reason they would lie to me.

I've only had mine for a couple of days but am experiencing a rough idle also. i don't want to seem like a ***** that just bought a used car and is running to the dealership, but if somethings wrong with it ---> whats the best way to have them take a look. and how rough of an idle are we talking about.
My rpms are fine, it just feels like the car is shaking. like its "bubbling" or something. hard to describe. it's not crazy rough. just a little bit.

Oh, I know it. Unfortunately the dealership only seems to know how to diagnose via the scan tool, and whenever they plug it in it idles up enough that it doesn't vibrate any more.
I've been trying to figure out how to prove it to them or make it worse. Its just bad enough that it bugs me but not bad enough that I have time to camp out on their lot until they fix it.
Is there a scientific way to proove bad mounts, beyond the "lurch drive" TSB? I have an '06 which is out of range of that TSB.

If they see it and it is idling rough, that should be enough. If they say its normal, ask them to bring over another 8 on the lot and compare the two.
