That should be a REAL easy quick fix for the dealer - like 5-10 minutes, tops. I figured it was just the logic driving the AC system being too agressive.

And I just got mine back yesterday from the M flash and oil cooler lines. FYI the service receipt called them oil 'washer' lines.

It seems the A/C amp was defaulting to the "outside air" postion and bringing hot outside air across the evaporator. The new amp will stop this from happening.

The AC amp was replaced on my car late last year. Now that the weather has started getting a bit warmer, the only real change I have noticed is the AC defaults to recirc mode when turned on. Still seems to go between cold and somewhat warmer. Have to wait for some hot weather to see if there is any real improvement.

OMG!! I must be psychic and didn't know it.

I just called the dealership this morning to make an appointment to get the new brake pads (that better not squeal!!) put on my car and told them that they needed to check out my A/C. I have been bitching about the cold-warm-cold-warm behavior with it since I took delivery of the car last July. I about burnt up driving the thing last summer.

Now tonight I find this TSB out here right after I called complaining about it today! Chances are that they will know nothing about this TSB when I take the car in since it just came out, and they probably will not have the part in stock.

Had my amplifier replaced back in November. See my post here
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...d+a%2Fc+i+hope
I believe it helped some, but now that it is getting warmer it is still
not working good enough. I see my amplifier part # is different
than that shown on the service bulletin. My A/C still cycles too soon blowing temps down to 54 then up to 68. It takes up to
30 minutes to cool down the interior with unit on max cool
and recirculated air. Hope that this new part number works better.

Werd!! Same here.

It was pretty warm here in St. Louis (mid 80's) and sunny the other day. I drove for an hour with the A/C on and I never got cooled down. Had the blower blasting on 3 the whole time. This new part had damn well better fix this issue!

I noticed that the difference in the air temp when it went into the warm air blast was totally "cancelling out" the blast of ice cold air that happened just a few seconds beforehand.

Why don't you just call them and tell them about the TSB?

Why go in just to find out they don't have the part or the knowledge?

Same thing here in Clearwater, FL. My AC freezes me out of the car.

I'm getting my new A/C amplifier over-nighted from California today. Service tech was aware of the problem from a class they sent him to. He said not all Vins can be fixed using the new amplifier alone. Some really early Vins need a new receiver/drier and amplifier. Ripping into the dash was indicated for the A/C fix involving those parts.

Yikes.

The weird thing is that my Vin is very low ends in 0926 and it apparently doesn't need all that work.

Hey called Mazda and looked at things on the computer for awhile and said all I need is the new amplifier part.

It will be here tomorrow. Thats good because its going to be 85 on friday. (thats hot for us New Englanders)

Do we know for sure what VIN's need to have both the amplifier and the receiver/drier replaced? I'm glad they said that yours doesn't and it is 0926. Mine is 1087, so I assume I am safe as well.

My new amplifier got ordered today and will probably be in sometime next week. I am anxious to get this and see what kind of difference it makes.

The weak A/C has been one of my biggest irritations with the car since I bought it. Not being able to turn the compressor on and off when I want to is the next in line. FIX THAT TOO MAZDA!!!

I love my 8, quirks and all but I can just see it coming.....In a few months I'm going to be reading things like
Thread: "I just got the "F" flash in my AC amplifier, seems to be working great!"
Reply: My car has VIN# XXXXXX, do I have the "F" flash?
Reply: Well, the only way to find out is to sit in the front passenger seat, turn the key to ACC without starting the car, open the rear quarter window five times in ten seconds and if your speedometer blinks "F" then you have it.

I do think that Mazda is doing an admirable job of settling our little gripes. We are a tough crowd to please. I've noticed the AC waffling too and living in the Dallas area, you can bet I'll be first in line for my "F" flash. :D

Does the dealer stock this item or does he have to order and have the car sit there and wait?

They ordered the part and I just went to dealership when it was convenient for me to have it installed. They didnt keep the car while the part was being overnighted.

Its takes about 10 minutes for them to put it in.

lets see how well it works on friday (near 90F).
