thing attached to the oem air filter

i took my air box off. when i went to put it back on i pulled a small hose attachment off. the attachment was connected to a cylinder that attaches to the oem air box. i have no clue what it is. i started my car and there wasn't a check engine light, and it didn't run funny. any idea what it was that i broke off, and or any problems that it may cause if i don't fix it asap! thanks!

Thought about that, but it's been so long since mine is off I couldn't remember where the VFAD plugged in.

i believe hes talking about the VFAD solenoid... it kinda snaps into the rings and if you dont have it connected and its left open it can cause jumpy idling. If you leave it off be sure to cap off the hose.

ya just make sure you cap off the open end of the hose if you take it out.

Get a vac cap from an auto supply store...or use a short piece of hose and block it off with a bolt...or such

The "thing that fits in the clip" is a small vacuum accumulator that provides "suck" to the VFAD flap at low rpm.

The actual solenoid is under the filter box.

Cap off the vacuum nipple under the throttle body if you disconnect anything.
