transmission sound

Okay so i know that this topic has been brought up numerous times and im sure is getting annoying to keep seeing it but...

Is there any way of fixing or making the clutch whirring noise in neutral when the clutch is not depressed stop?

i do realize that it is the throwout bearing for the clutch, and that it rubs against the fingers on the pressure plate.

if there is a way of stopping this noise please let me know, if not then sorry for wasting so much of your time

It's actually gear noise from the tranny...the throwout bearing is only in use when your foot is ON the clutch....... it presses on the fingers and disengages the clutch disc.

You better be sure that the sound is not the normal sound, or else u could end up spending couple hundred for nothing.

Well u ask how much to change it ? the bearing itself is cheap, like 30 something bucks ? but you have to *pretty much* take your Tranny down. I say its about a 3-4 hour job (if you know what you're doing)

The noise is the gears in the tranny. They are noisy due to the type of cut on the gears, makes them stronger, but noisy. You wont get rid of the noise.
