Two AC Questions

Two AC Questions
Hi, hopefully someone here can help me with this, as its HOT in South Florida w/ no AC.
First: How do I get to the "AC Amplifier?" I have a very vague diagram pointing it out and instructions that say "remove it." It appears to be in the dash, to the left of the center console, but I have no idea really. The instructions kind of imply its easy to get to but I don't see anything that looks like it.
Second: I replaced the control unit (has temp and fan ***** and the combo air routing switch) and I had to give them the VIN for my car so they'd get the right unit. Huh? Anyone know what the differences are? Are they significant enough to cause it not to work if they have the wrong one?
Thanks,
jds

I think it has 1 or 2 connectors attached to it. I cant remember it now.
All I remember is that its "god damn" easy to remove, takes u maybe 10 minutes to locate and unplug it.

The hardware behind the ***** are the same.
Long time ago dumb *** dealership (Great Neck Mazda) swap my HVAC control with a regular, so yeah I lost all my shinny ***** ... T_T ... I was about to buy some new *****,but those ***** cost like 20-30 bux each so I was like fuxk it.
btw, how u know its the A/C Amplifier problem? u got any A/C code? or you have an early version ? Have you check your 134a level? have you check for leaks? if there is a leak you have to fix the leak, pull a deep vacuum (like 29+ mg) before you re-oil and recharge.

Good info, thank you!
I actually don't think I have an amplifier problem. I have the Metra stereo kit, and everything initially worked properly. However, I had to pull it out to change something with the stereo, and accidentally pulled a wire out of one of the harnesses that go to the Axxess box (if you're not familiar with it, it is the device that the HVAC control plugs into...it handles the HVAC control functions formerly handled by the OEM stereo). I fixed the harness, but from that point forward, I get heat always, no combo switch and no display...I can take the Axxess box out and throw it out the window now, it makes no difference. So, I got them to send me a new one, and I bought a new HVAC control assembly just in case...still nada. I didn't touch anything else! I do have some diagnostic instructions that require you to check voltages at the amplifier connector though, so I will give it a shot.

the A/C Amplifier located at left side of blower case, very close to the accelerator pedal.

that's because Limited Edition like the Shinka trim has different color *****. the Shinka trim (like mine) has "shinny, chrome-color like *****" while the "regular" version has original "dull silver/gray-ish color" ****.
The hardware behind the ***** are the same.
