Interested in knowing who has pulleys on their car? Any dyno numbers available? Just curious

I have the SpeedSource race-only pulleys, the car is still up on jack stands since the install though so no comment other than to say that they claim 8 - 10 hp due to decreased alternator speed. Also eliminates the AC drive pulley so that may play into it. Smaller main drive pulley and large alternator pulley to be used with the OE water pump pulley.
Most people poo-poo pulley claims but this is SpeedSource and they don't sell them publicly so there's really no reason for them to stretch the truth, plus it's a race-only part so they can push the performance envelope beyond a streetable pulley. I also won't be dynoing between a bumch of mods, so there's no way to know for sure. I'll only see the overall end result of everything together.

We have a couple of RELIABLE people tell us they think something is there. No real dynos. But dyno's at times dont tell the whole story either.
I am becoming more interested in this mod as I hear more.
I also hear from reliable source reports of water pump cavetation(sic) above 8K.
Team-sounds as if you are getting serious. Are you going to 17" wheels?(ended up with approx5% lower drive ratio) I just got through running RA with mine and I will NOT go back. Big improvement in the cars grunt out of the corners etc. 18's for the street will continue--sorry for the highjack Val.
I am thinking about the agency pulley.

you are correct Team-- I should have clarified that my setup worked great for me and my budget. It is less expensive to go with the 17's in the 40's size than the 18's in the size needed to get simular gear reduction. Also the tracks I run are one's that favor this reduction. All tracks won't. As always evaluate the entire package/enviroment you will be in. Thanks for the reminder to specify my position. It is easy to misinterpet. Good luck on your build and let us know how it turns out.

I am thinking strongly for the unorthodox pullies although I think they could better serve their customers by providing the belts needed with their package. Yet I am in conflict about the agency power pulley and the unorthodox set.

it helps tremendously to pull the intake box and battery with upper tray enclosure off, then you have clear access to everything, I thought it was fairly painless

So it's OK to put underdrivce pullies? I thought that was not recommended since you would under power the alternator or AC, I forget.

I haven't had any problems with my alternator or AC. AC is the same as it was before, Cold than warm than cold than warm etc...etc...

the A/C runs on a separate drive pulley/belt
it depends which pulleys you, the usual stuff FS is made for the street SR/UR/etc., a race setup has more underdrive since in theory the engine will operate at high rpm most of the time

Unorthodox here too.......I've had them for over a year and still haven't gotten around to putting them on the car. Any other install tips/pointers would be appreciated. I've never done a pulley install (yet).....

Follow the directions Unorthodox sends you. It's incredibly simple, all I had to do was remove the intake box, everything was accessible after that. I had to use an impact wrench to get the alternator pulley off, though, that was about as hard as it got...

Yes please, you guys with other pulleys, just give some feedback on the following:
1. do you have any overheating problems due to the waterpump spinning slower if in normal driving, like in warm daytime stop and go, and then
2. does the alternator still charge enough to keep the battery fine when lights are on at night.remember that if it undercharge it will have to charge up some time and putting more load on the alternator as more current are drawn and then it takes more power to turn.taking power from the motor.
If the voltage goes too low the rest of the system like spark quality etc can be affected.
If it is all fine
then......

There must be some intermediate point where all still works out fine, ie. pulley size (amount of underdriving) ?

To make sure I saw on RX7store.net the Unorthodox pulleys, they have 2 types, the set of 3 for crank,pump and altenator and then just a single underdriven crank pulley at about half the price, which is more worth it.

I got the alternator/main/waterpump pulleys. Besides, you're thinking of 2 different brands. RX7Store.net carries the Unorthodox pulley SET, and the Agency Power main pulley. The Agency Power pulley underdrives more I think, but don't quote me because I'm not 100% sure.

I just installed the Agency Power underdrive crank pulley. It is 1lb lighter than stock according to my bathroom scale. I feel like there may be a little extra power in the mid range but I am not certain it couldn't be the summer blend of gas I just put in it. I may go to the dyno soon to see how much it gave me. I was at 188.9 whp my last trip to the dyno earlier this month so if it goes up then it is either the gas or the pulley. I'll post the results when it gets done.

I had my car dyno'd yesterday afternoon and my but dyno did not lie. There is some major improvement throughout most of the chart. Once it gets emailed to me I will post. But my peak jumped up to 190.6. Please keep in mind that I only have the Revi intake and duct. I still run stock exhaust.
