Question using gas with ethanol

how much of a problem is it to burn ethanol blended gas in the rotary? In canada more gas stations are selling gas with up to 15% ethanol. The mazda manual says not to use it but the way the market is going I may have no choice. For instance while driving through saskatchewan I had to do to 3 different gas stations untill I found one with no ethanol.

Shell Vpower91 doesn't have ethanol (at least in Ontario)

I think that the manual states a limit for ethanol content. You could call the gas co as well because the signs say may contain up to xx%

mostly ethanol has ~40% less energy content than gasoline, so you loose mileage and power.

All NYC gas has 10% of ethanol in them (I have yet to see a station without ethanol)

they put it in to lower the emission ...

Up to 10% or so is supposedly fine. Higher than this and you're on your own.

yea, i used to use sunoco 93, untill i saw a sticker on the pump that said gas contains 10% ethanol.

i switched over to shell v-power 93, it has no ethanol, about 2-3 monthes ago, i saw about 30 more miles a tank!

and i feel more power, but im sure thats the mind playing with me.

hi I just read up on all the similar threads on my original question about ethanol use. Lots of good info in there! I was concerned about eating out the seals but as the manual says up to 10 pecent is okay. A mazda mechanic told me not to worry unless it is fuel like Brazil makes. Enviromentaly it isn't any better than high octane gas

Which is the other bad news about Phoenix gas.
Not only are we limited to 91 octane, we have 15% ethanol universally.
MTBE is long gone...
