Want to change front brake pads out for Hawks - best how-to?
I've searched and read some of the threads about changing brake pads. To be honest, it gets more confusing than helpful when reading too much. Just to give a little history, my 8 has 44k miles on it. The front pads had been changed a couple of times already not that long ago to try and fix the squeal problem. I got the service bulletin on the brake squeal, ordered the pad set from Mazda and had someone swap the pads out per the bulletin and they are squealing again. Just had the pads changed a couple hundred miles ago and the rotors were machined when that was done. I've heard that Hawk Ceramics might be my best bet to get rid of the squeal. But, I'd like to take a shot at changing them out myself. I want to make sure I get what I need and do it right. Do I need any extra parts, besides the pads, if everything was swapped out for new just a couple hundred miles ago. And, do I really need to have the rotors machined again?
What is the most straightforward way to change the pads myself and what tools should I have handy? I can probably borrow what I need and/or get what I need on loan from the auto parts store if needed. But I'd like to have what I need with me when I go to do it and not have to go running around looking for tools.
