WARNING: starter install heads up
i honestly do not know if this is the proper place for this but i figure anyone looking on a DIY on starter changes would come here.
I was replacing my 05 AT starter with an 06 starter. Everything ran smoothly. the DIY in this section by Vyndictive was very helpful. I also used the service tech book.
as I was installing the 3 main bolts of the new starter I was making sure they were nice and tight, as the original was. I could not fit in the torque wrench I had so i was doing it by hand. the service tech has torque specs. The last bolt I was tightening SNAPPED OFF. My car has 75k miles so it might just be old idk. it was too far in to remove by hand.
just a heads up to anyone installing the starter. be weary of over tightening the 3 main bolts. I made do with 2 bolts to get home and I will seek out a new one tomorrow... in my dads civic

That comes down to over agressive tightening - something that happens very rarely once you have been around nuts and bolts for a while . Nothing wrong with the design .
Dot punch , then drill a hole through the middle of the bolt (if you can get to it)then insert an easy out and remove . Good luck .

After taking the starter back out, sometimes there is enough to grab on with vise-grips and turn it just enough to back it out where you can more easily get a hold of it.
Been a very long time since this happened to me, but happened on a water pump in an old Stang once! Argh!

yea im sure i was just agitated about getting the first one out. couple bolts in some very tight spaces. luckily I was at a shop that i work at so i could be under the car completely. once i get the bolt im going back and a guy i work with is gonna bring his air drill to get the old half bolt out. just another day in the life of a DIYer
