Warranty Question

Warranty Question
Ok, so this is probably a terrible question and is probably listed somewhere and i just couldn't find it, but if i could get some help that would be awesome.
So basically, my warranty is up in July, 2011.
Its a 2007, Rx-8, Manual Transmission with 45,000 Kilometers, i drive it pretty nicely, and get oil changes every 4-5000KMs.
The coils are fried, my car barely starts some of the time, and im sure there are a few other small issues that need to be dealt with. Im assuming this is covered by warranty? BUT i have a catless midpipe... Are they still going to honor my warranty if i take it in? or should i find someone with a hoist and throw the stock cat back in before i bring it to a dealership?
Thanks,
Chris

I would recommend putting the cat back on as a dealership could give you issues about the midpipe.
when do you have trouble starting it? in the morning? when the car is warm?
how do you know the coils are fried? have you tested them?

Alright thanks.
It always has trouble starting, and i haven't done any testing yet, im just going by what people on here have been telling me. I could be terribly wrong and it could be something as easy as changing the plugs and wires but im just kinda thinking worst case scenario.

Assuming you can actually VERIFY your coils are bad, no that wouldn't be covered under warranty. It is a maintenance item and you will be charged an arm and a leg if you take it into the dealer. And yes, if you go that route, don't come within spitting distance of the dealer with a midpipe on.

Alright well thanks for the tips!
as soon as this garbage *** weather goes away and the snow is all melted im going to get in to the shop and put in all new plugs and wires and hope that cleans up most of the problem and if not ill probably look into investing in the BHR ignition system =)

Never fear, Jedi is here!
how old is your battery? has it been drained recently?
The BHR ignition is a great alternative to the OEM coils (ESPECIALLY with the price of OEM coils going way up recently) but I would rule out any other possible issues before throwing money at a problem and hoping it masks it.
Typical culprits to your current symptoms:

Typical culprits to your current symptoms:
- coils - might be time to replace given your mileage
- battery - get it checked
- weak starter typically not an issue with cars built after late 2005
- clogged cat - you have a midpipe so this does not apply
- low compression - I highly recommend getting this checked. Are there any rotary shops near you or someone in your area with a compression tester?
- old spark plugs - brown is okay, black is bad.
