Weird Observation

I have noticed lately that after driving for a while I will look down at the A/C controls and the thing will not be set on Recirculate any longer, which I am pretty sure I have not accidentally hit the switch. I have the updated amp, and it is programmed as it comes on recirculate when you turn the A/C on and pointed at face output. Is there a reason it would switch off recirculate for? Anyone else's car do this on them?

By the way, got to go to the dealer in the morning and get them to replace these damn sunvisors, aparently both of mine have decided to crack along the back seam. Anyone know if they ever updated these, as I see alot have had problems with them?

Cracked Sunvisors

My Sunvisors cracked along the back seam as well. Have to go for oil change on Tuesday, will get dealer to change them. Not doing too badly. so far i`ve had new battery, new oil-pan, new AC condensor, 6 re-flashes, two new rear light clusters, new gearbox mount...and so the list grows.

Oh yea also the temp shouldn't have any play on why it keeps switching, since it is 80+ degrees out. I checked under the dash and made sure the connections are good with the Amp since it just started acting like this.

the vent position mode may influence it maybe, if you have them set fully on normal dash vents it should stay on recirc mode (mine does), defroster vent position may kick into fresh air, just gueesing though

Yea it is only on face vent mode, seems weird like it has a mind of it's own. I guess maybe it is click off reciculate when it thinks the coils are icing over or something. Oh well, if I manually put it on recirculate it stays there.

I usually have mine set to face and recirc, but when I switch to go to mix, I cant remember for sure, but when you get to defog/floor the recirc will turn off and go to fresh. Seems best to only have fresh aire for defog? During defog/recirc the AC runs without the AC light on.

Interesting...I read the manual about a week ago and it says it is better for your A/C when it is not set to recirc all the time, but to use recirc when first cooling the car. Maybe your car is just set somehow to do that for you. :D

Brice...my a/c setting did that too every once in a while, not often, but since I've put in grounding, don't notice it happening anymore.

Just seems weird it would start doing it all of a sudden, almost like there is a short or something somewhere. I get out of work in a couple hours and right now it is 92 degrees with a heat index of 97, and the car has been sitting in straight sunlight all day. If it does it this afternoon, with it set to face, cold all the way, and fan on 4 then I think the amp has lost it's mind. I tried reprogramming it but it doesn't blink at me, which from what I read means it knows it is already programmed.

You are suppose to not use recirc when you first get in and it is hot. Change to recirc after the car has cooled down.

i bump it sometimes, when shifting into 3rd, also if you switch to the front window defoster (either the 'mode' button in the center, or the defrost button on the left) it will automaticaly turn the car off recirculate.

Yea but when it has been acting weird have not hit anything, or changed any settings. Well, on the way home it stayed on recirculate the whole time, changing to it when I turned the A/C on automatically, I guess these other times I have been to close to the temp where it thinks recirculate is not automatically needed. I tell you it has a mind of its own, but as long as it keeps me cold I don't care what it does!

From the tech note it sounds like it loses the programming if the battery is disconnected. You might could disconnect the battery for a bit, reconnect and then reprogram the amp. This is what I plan to do if my AC ever gets funky again. The reprogramming sure helped my AC.

Yea thinking about disconnecting battery and then doing the reprogram if it keeps acting weird. I do, do the brake pedal KAM clear about every 2 weeks to keep the car feeling extra alive.

When you cycle through the vent modes you have to pass the defrost setting (and defrost setting automatically sets fresh air mode) therefore if you do this to get to the face vent setting then it sets it to fresh air regardless wether the A/C is on of not.

Go out to your car (probably in fresh air mode already) and then select recirc and then hit the mode button... You'll see what I'm talking about.

Yes I know what you are talking about, but I leave the it set on face mode all the time, I rarely have to change the settings. The only time I use or go past defrost is in the winter time and it is definantly not winter here. It stayed on it's automatic recirculate this morning with the car showing 76 degrees out, so I think before it was just too close to the temp threshold for it flipping back and forth. Does anyone know if it runs off the temp we can see on the center console, or the ECU has a different one?

yo Brice, it's Gabe with the Red 8 from the imports nc forum. I hope everything else with ur 8 is working out fine, but if u cant fix that problem urself i'd take it by bob king Mazda. They should take care of you, and if anything it should be a warranty issue. Cya at the next INC meet. O yea, i painted my wheels black with a friend. Its a lil ghetto but we left the lip silver and the center caps silver...anyway its temporary but we did the best we could...take care

Yea Bob King is getting my sunvisors taken care of, I don't think anything is really wrong with my A/C just interested in seeing if anyone else noticed it doing weird things sometimes. I'm interested to see what your wheels look like, hopefully I will see you around.
