...does anybody else hear a faint screeching/squealing sound when you step on the throttle. I notice this sound when I'm driving and my foot is about 1/2" down on the pedal, it goes away when I try to step on it further or let off the throttle. I do have a CEL on but it's for the secondary air injection pump (P0410)
and yes I've tried the search function but no luck. any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

I have the same thing, but it doesn't sound like screeching/sqeauling to me, it sounds more like..air, or like fluid spitting? I dunno. More like hissing on my car.

 

yeah, it's somewhat similar to a hissing sound I guess. is that normal?

 

Ive heard a similar sound too. Have you guys been hitting 9K rpms at least once a month?

It might be one of the sounds that people have included in the "marbles in a can" noise.

actually...everyday i take the car for a run. I usually build up to hitting 9 though, for instance: hitting 6, 7, 7.5, 8, then 9. Either everyday, or every other day. I don't wanna have any carbon build up? I live next to like, 3 highways...

thanks, i do know the CEL, I even have step by step instruction on troubleshooting that I printed out from mitchel on demand. what i'm trying to see if it's normal to hear that kind of noise. I'm checking if I'm the only one that's hearing that from my car.
so, for those of you with the same kind of hissing/faint squealing noise; are your CEL's on as well?

I hear a screech/hissing sound at partial throttle when the engine rpm passes through the 6.5-7k range. It is completely reproducible. I worried about it for awhile, but have now gotten used to it. No CEL's. (knock on wood) It sounds like turbulent airflow, and that is the engine speed when the third intake ports open up. I have attributed it to that.

Mine sounds like a quaill squeek when I come ON OR OFF the throttle. I kinda like it, it is just another rotary noise. But I get it EVERY time I accelerate and I have no CEL. The dealership said it comes from every RX and they dont even know what it is.
I understand why you are a little scared though, it does sound like metal on metal slipping.( kinda like a copper clutch)

 

thanks for the input guys, I don't think the CEL has anything to do with the sound... but now I heard something new, some sort of a whistling sound coming from my K&N intake filter. I've had the ver.2 typhoon kit for almost a month now and this is the first time I've heard this whistling sound... I noticed the sound right after I pulled in the driveway coming from work. I think it has something to do with me hitting the redline on the way home.... 'cause I don't see any other reason why it would start whistling like that.

...I used to own an FC and I've never heard that hissing sound on it, I've worked on 1st gen and 20B's as well and never heard a rotary hiss.
