What the CRAP is this?

Hey crew. I recently changed my oil from Royal Purple fully synthetic (5W20) to conventional Castrol GTX (5W20) and noticed after driving that my dipstick looked like this! I've never experienced anything like this and was wondering if you guys have any insight to WTF this might be. After discovering this, I immediately drained the oil and did my best to flush the system, replacing the oil ultimately with Royal Purple again. I also changed the filter both times with an OEM replacement from Mazda. The car isn't experiencing any changes in performance. The residue lacks any suspicious odors that would suggest some kind of seal leak somewhere...although I don't claim to be an expert of any sorts.

Oh, and I know the whole synthetic vs. conventional arguement, as well as the weight arguement. I never experienced anything like this before I changed it to conventional. Thanks in advance!

Could be nothing.

Is your antifreeze getting suspiciously low?

^Wow...you're good! Thank you so much. You, staticlag, once again prove why this crew is the best out there!

I originally suspected a coolant leak, which is why I mentioned that the residue lacked any suspicious scents that would suggest just that. So, I'm certain this is probably what I'm encountering, being that I'm rocking an '04. Thanks again, bro. I really appreciate the info!

Yea if your antifreeze keeps going low then you need a rebuild and thats likley due to your 8 over heating.

Did you have a coolant leak?

I would say this is not normal.

My Buick looked like this for 4 years before the block cracked completely.

Is that one of the intake ports the the combustion chamber? That looks gnarly, good thing it's pretty much harmless right.
