What does this light mean on my dash?

O.K. I had the Mazda dealership install lowering Tanabe springs in my car and when i picked it up and drove it i noticed a light on thats right by the gas tank meter....It looks like a oval with a arrow next to it pointing up and a arrow pointing down...I told the dealership and in the manual its the symbol for the headlight adjustment option which i dont even have...lol

Now why is that light on if i dont even have the headlight adjustment option? I know its nothing to worry about since its not a CEL or any maintenance light, or is it something to worry about? What are your opinions?

Just looked under my car on the drivers side and found something just hanging...It looks like its screwed in one end and then its a grey wire that just has a metal V attached to it...Is this the ground for my headlight adjustment? Even though i dont have the option on my car, could it be why the light is on? If so where do i screw in that V?

Take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it! With the quickness.
Tell the dealer,,,,"Who do you think your dealing with hear? PUNK! Fix the freeeeeeeking car!"
That should work.

Hey guys, take it easy on the Noobs.

There is a sensor on your rear end that determains how your headlights should be adjusted. It moves them up or down depending on how much weight is in the car. When they hooked up your bars, they must not of reconnected it or they broke it. Take it back to the dealer, that did the work, and have them fix it.

So is it that V shaped wire thats hanging there that is causing my light to come on? Also one last thing, i noticed that the front passenger side is like a quarter inch higher then the front driver side...is that a problem too? Tanabe told me that a quarter of a inch is acceptable...

Im not talking about the headlight sitting lower, im saying that after the springs were installed today that my passenger side front sits .25 (quarter of a inch) higher then the front driver side...I measured from the center of the rim to the bottom of the fender.

The passenger side headlight should be aimed higher than the driver's side, it's comes like that stock, I believe it's so you don't blind other motorists as much

You need to measure it on a lift. A lift is completly flat.

Then measure the height from the lift to the bottom of the frame.

That is the correct way to measure the height.

I am going to do that in the morning, now how about the issue with my cars front passenger side sitting a quarter of a inch higher then my front drivers side? Is that a issue or normal? Just got them installed today, the lowering springs that is.

^ Read what I posted.

1/4" is acceptable but you need to measure it correctly.

I just got back from driving it a little bit and of course giving it its redline a day...and measured again and the gap between the driver front and passenger front is becoming smaller, so i think the spring thats on the passenger front is settling in...makes sense? Sorry if im being nooby, i came from a Subaru Sti 06 to this car, i would still have my STI if it wasnt for some drunk female totalling my car by rear ending me at 55mph....but i am really liking my RX8 though. :-D

Do you have HID lamps in your headlights stock? Then you have the headlight adjustment. It's an auto adjustment - no interior switches.

Don't putz around getting these fixed. There are sensors on the drivers side front and rear wheels and the master is in the drivers side headlight. Each sensor is $500+ so don't delay addressing this problem. Also look on finishlineperformance.com there was a TSB for crappy headlight sensors that allowed water to get in them. Print it and bring it in if your VIN # is within the range listed.

Again, don't delay! Get the dealer to fix this ASAP!!! Call them right now to tell them.

Yeah....you are okay now.
If you saw it hanging before, now go look without touching it and see if they just attached it or if it changed in any way. If it did..........then they lied and just covered there @ss. It's self adjusting, that's why it's there, so what did they adjust? They adusted plugging back in the friggin wire they knocked off.

Just try to ignore the kids. They don't get out of the house too often and the don't know how to behave.

It makes sense if they forgot to reconnect it after they got done.

Yes the springs will settle. Also your right heights won't all be exactly the same. In fact if you buy a set of height adjustable coilovers you'd intentionally have differences in height in order to corner balance the car and compensate for your weight in the drivers seat.

Short answer: It will settle over a week or two and a 1/4" is fine.
