What exactly qualifies as a hard start
So I picked up my car last week and I've loved it but one small concern I have is that it seems to take a little too long to turn over. At first I just presumed it was normal (it still might be) but I decided to check some of the older hard start threads and there were some videos of start-ups that were a bit quicker. I would say that it takes 2-3 seconds to turn over. The good news is that it doesn't seem to be any worse if I drive for awhile turn it off and then turn it back on while it's still warm so I'm hoping its not a compression issue.
04 (03 production) with 65k so it might still have the weak starter.
Is 2-3 sec normal, especially with the weak starter?

Sounds just like the starter motor to me. The old model starter was useless after a period of time. Mine used to take a few seconds to get the engine going and if you turned the engine off warm and tried to restart it would take a long time as if it were flooding.
I had the starter changed and it starts first turn in less than a second.
I would definetly get it looked at to confirm it is the old model and if it is, get it changed.
