What motor oil are you using on your RX8 now?

I have been running Castrol GTX 5w20 motor oil for the first oil change from brand new. I have upgraded to Royal Purple Synthetic oil now after reading all the Pros and Cons in the site. Thanks. I just wonder how many of you guys actually use Synthetic motor oil. What brand? If not, what regular motor oil are you using on your RX8? Here is the poll. It will give other members a reference in regard of Synthetic motor oil.

I used to use RP for over 20K miles. its good. no problem, 5w-30

but I wanna try something else + I want better protection, so I switched to RL 10w40 about 2K-3K miles ago. So far so good.

but again RL is not so easy to get in my area (not for 11 bux a quart!) so I got myself 5 quarts of Mobil1 0w40 + Mobil1 Filter for 26.99 @ Autozone today.

It's what Mazda recommends, and how could the maker of the car possibly know what oil to use?

More seriously, it's on the thin side. To help with CAFE standards, most US auto makers recommend "Energy saving" oil that's on the thin end of the envelope. Mazda recommends 5w30 most places outside of the US.

This week my dealer filled with 5w30, which is amusing since until now they've always used 5w20. I wonder if they've come to agree with the "5w20 is too thin" crowd, or if the tech didn't follow orders. Or if whoever typed the bill entered the wrong thing. Or if 5w20 is more expensive, and I went in with a $10 coupon this time.

I thought RX8's rotary engine is designed specifically for use of 5w-20 motor oil stated on the owner's manual. Racing Beat also recommends 5w-20 Royal Purple motor oil. I guess it should be good enough to use 5w-20.

I've been using Royal Purple 5W20 w/ K&N Oil Filter up till my last oil change.

Switched to a 5W30 (RP) after reading various posts, and my car has been running very sluggish as of late.

Not too sure what to make of it, but I noticed it within 48 hrs of the oil change so I'm attributing it to that?? I will be switching back to (RP) 5W20 in the near future.

cuz it might create legal issues. especially in the land of "people can sue for anything"

rofl what a load of crap. have you ever thought about the 5w-20 caused the failure in the first place?

I think u need to understand more about how our rotary engine works, its spec, how it uses the oil, and how oil works.
