So I've had this noise, a click, click coming from the front brakes when I stop.
I pulled the wheels, checked calipers/pads, cleaned the hub and wheels, and torqued to 108 ft/pds. Noise still there.

Took the car into the dealer, they said rotors were warped, need new ones.
Car is an '05, bought in '06, 12,000 miles
Had the brake squeal TSB done back in '07, and they turned the rotors (knew I shouldn't have gotten that done).

$500 + later I have new rotors and no noise. Lesson learned, light weight thin rotors don't last if they're turned. Live with the squeal!

 

I actually find the squealing quite useful, most cars that would otherwise hit me when I'm at their blind spot managed to avoid in time when they heard my squealing brakes.
