Soooo... i was so happy to get my rx-8 back in 1 days time after bringing it to the dealer UNTIL I started seeing some things pop up. It was cold the day i picked it up, so i just got in and left.... first thing i noticed is i dropped the car off with a quarter tank... it was now below empty with the light on. I just filled up and forgot about it. THEN today.... im looking at my car and what do i see? A scuff in the rear bumper that was clearly touched up. I look around the car... what else do i see a new ding in the pass. quarter panel... ohh and it doesnt end here.... CURB RASH on the front wheel about 6 inches long..... WHAT THE HELL CAN I DO ABOUT THIS?! Im furious. I know damn well that these were not there before. Not only did my car get the **** beaten out of it (1/4 tank used in 12.6 miles, they shouldnt have even driven it that far) it has been damaged for over a thousand dollars, the wheel looks hideous and the ding is on a crease in the quarter panel that will cost at least $275 to fix at a repar shop. The scuff on the rear bumper is about 3" long andwas touched up horribly.

Well, I do NOT think there is anything you can do now. Since you took your car and drove off, without checking for damages.
You can always *Try* but I doubt u're going to get anything out of it.

I had my whole right side wiped out when dropped off at the dealership..sad sad..it was a run away car that rolled backwards off a ramp. In return I got all new parts and a new paint job..good as new!

Go back and talk/complain/yell (as appropriate).
Just because you drove off does not let them off the hook. Similarly, finding damage before driving off doesn't put them on the hook, either - they can claim you brought it in that way.
So go back and talk to them in an appropriate manner.

this makes it easy to tell if the car was damaged at the shop
and b, unfortunately there are plenty of people who try to say pre-existing damage was done by the dealership...

I've a few short anecdotes on this topic:
A few months ago, I posted a thread on how Midas destroyed 2 of my new Dark Chrome Rims and put a ding on my right rear quarter panel. The rims had just came in the mail and I took them to Midas to have them them mounted, etc, etc. The thing was, I took pics before they took the car. I wanted to do a "before & after" thread. Even with photographic evidence, they did not pay for the dent. It cost me, again out of pocket, about $100 to have a paintless dent guy come and fix it (highly recommended). They, after about two months of phone tag and bureaucratic run-arounds, eventually "reimbursed" me for two new rims. That is, I had to buy, out of pocket, two new rims and await a reimbursment check from Midas Corporate.
I took my new Z into Nissan last week to have my deck/navi installed. The day before I just got my tint done and left a BIG-*** note, taped to the rearview mirror, asking the technicians to PLEASE DO NOT ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS. I took the time to tell the service manager this as well. When I finally picked up my car at the end of the day...lo and behold! BOTH of my windows were down! I screamed but the service manager had gone home and the only guy that was there said that Nissan didn't even work on my car! It was some "contractors" that Nissan uses to install aftermarket head units. The next morning, I had airbubbles that formed at the bottoms of the tint and now I have to take them back to the tinter...
My wife's old Accord got keyed. We took it to our "trusted" body shop. The guy had the car for over 3 months! The day we picked it up, the gas light was on. I asked my wife if it was empty when we turned it in. She said, "no, it was on F." She, then, broke out a piece of paper that she wrote the mileage on, before we turned the car over. It had over 1,000 miles!
I agree. Ideally, we, as customers entrusting our cars to--so-called--professionals, should not have to do a "circle-of-safety" before and after each time we PAY for a service (warranty work or otherwise). Unfortunatley, this is not an ideal world and there are dirt bags galore employed in almost every industry.

Everytime I bring my car in, I took a picture of my Odometer mileage , just to be sure that they *cant* **** it up. and I know ALL the dents on my car, if its my dent. I dont care, if I see anything *extra*, Im going to raise some hell. (Lucky nothing like that has happen)

The closest I've come to a garage noting pre-existing damage was when I had exhaust work done on my Honda at a Midas place, and they noted on the work order that the driver's door handle was broken. Which it was.
I had a BMW 2002 in the early 70s. One time a body shop, and another time an inspection station (gas stations here in VA) bent the front suspension. Struts and flimsy control arms were still new at the time. Each time I went back the next day, showed them the damage, and they took care of it.

sorry to hear about the damage evoman. u should go back and talk to either the general manager of the dealership and/ or the service manager. be polite, but at the same time be firm and be demanding. if they care about making things right, then they'll offer to do something about it. if u don't feel like u can trust them anymore, then cut your losses and get your car fixed somewhere else and leave these a-holes behind and never go back. i mean, if u couldn't trust them once, can u really trust them again and allow them to repair damage that (a) they tried to cover up and (b) never should have happened to begin with?
i had a similar experience w/ ALHAMBRA ******* MAZDA. their extremely incompetent service manager ricky tru is truly a first rate moron, who i think, deserves to be fired. i will not be bringing my car there ever again unless i absolutely can't help it.
hope u get your car fixed soon.
