Wheel Spacers

Has anyone got any experience with fitting wheel spacers to their RX8?

Im looking to fit 15mm spacers all the way round to fill out the arches but don't want to detrimentally affect the handling/steering.

Im not so worried about any problems with the tyres rubbing the arches as there appears to be plenty of room all the way round.

Any comments would be appreciated.....!

15mm? I doubt you could safely pull that off without changing the wheel studs. I am not sure there is even 15mm of stud/lug overlap to start with.

I have found somewhere that sells spacers for the RX8 with either a 5mm or 15mm offset. They are TUV approved so quality shouldn't be a problem.

My last RX8 was lowered with bilstein shocks and eibach springs and having measured it, theoretically it the wheels wouldn't have fouled the arches on compression or with full lock applied.

Im sure that the stance would be infinately improved by getting the wheels to fill out the arches a bit more but 5mm seems a bit pointless....

I have 8mm at rear, looks great. Don't know about 15mm, would it touch arches? Can you share an www or e.mail address of supplier your spacers? I like it too, but I think for front its 5mm maximum, otherwise loading for suspension increase and handling become worse. If you try, let us know your feelings.

If it were for all four wheels it shouldn't be a problem. Just the rears, however, may make it handle like you had staggered rims. That said, it looks okay as long as you are sure the arhes wont rub at full compression?

That, and if I were you I'd buy a ton of LockTite!

Thanks for the advice!

Getting aftermarket parts or advice over here in the UK is a nightmare... Everyone fears the Renasis, even the dealerships!

The best place i found for spacers were these guys -

http://www.performancealloys.com/all...el_spacers.asp

They were really helpful and quoted me about £100 front and rear.

Definately need to budget about the same again for the LockTite (or an arc welder just to be sure!).....!!
