when to do a tune up? i think mine needs one
my 8 has 54k miles and i just started to feel something a little rare on my car. since last week ive being feeling a very light misfire on my 8. it only does it when the car is under 2500 rpm, it doesnt seem to accelerate as smooth as it uses to. again only at low rpms. i dont think it has something to do with the cold weather in NY since i always warm it up... could it be spark plugs? air filter? i might need to put some injector cleaner in my gas tank?
what do you guys think?
thanks

Maintenance Schedule 2 (the heavier service interval most of us follow for spirited sportscar operation) calls for sparkplug and air filter replacement at 35k miles. So, if you're at 54k and have never done either ....
Note that the "Emissions voluntary recall" replaced sparkplugs, so if you had that performed you may be up to date.
Coils and sparkplug wires are on an as-required basis, but I too would be thinking about their replacement at your mileage.
I like to throw in some STP 'total fuel system additive' every few months to clean the injectors, etc.

Don't put 'injector cleaner' in your gas tank. Whatever that does it isn't going to help.
I'd do the following maintainance myself:
-Full Drain Oil Change
-Tranmission Fluid / Diff Fluid Change
-Spark Plugs
-Coils
-Seafoam Engine Cleaning
I'd also recommend an alignment if you haven't had one done in the last 20k.
There are DIYs for all if you want to do the work yourself otherwise any mechanic can make the changes.
I would also take it to your dealer and have them inspect the starter, motor mounts, clutch, and engine compression. Especially the latter if it hasn't been done.

While we're on this service interval discussion (semi-thread jack); my '8 has 20k on it, but is approaching 4 years old. I've changed the plugs and air filter and of course regular oil/filter changes at 3k and tire rotation at 6k. Ya'll think I should do other service 'early' due to months rather than miles? Other than oil, I've never seen how a reasonable time duration could be as wearing as mileage.
edit: I'm definitely going to get an alignment this Spring, as my tire wear is showing excess toe-in ('snowplowing').
