Whine at High RPM

Whine at High RPM
Got a quick question.
I'm getting a bit of a whine (not the redline buzzer) or a different kind of higher pitched hissing sound from 7200 to redline. I've got a K&N dropin intake, and am running regular fuel. Could it be the last portion of the S-DAIS kicking in and making that sound?
By the way, what does pinging/predetonation sound like?
Thanks a lot!

I have only noticed some sort of hiss that happens sometimes if I accelerate. I determined that it stops if I have the fan off, and only noticed it at high rpm. I think the type of whine you are talking about is S-DAIS related because there is a high pitched whine near 3750rpms that I can hear to judge if I am going above or below 73mph without looking at the speedo or tach.

you're not going to hear much pinging on this engine as there are knock sensors which will do all possible to eliminate it when it occurs. sounds (apparently) like popping popcorn, but loud. and then your engine dies. so no, a hesitation or stagger is not from detonation, more probably a misfire or stuck intake system valve.

I'd imagine you are hearing the same noise being discussed HERE
Some call it a "rattle", others a "whine", some a "ringing", while I'd describe it as a joy-buzzer type sound. (No, it's not the shift warning buzzer ) Nobody seems to be able to nail it down, but I'd say due to the number of people hearing it, it's the sound of the sequential intake opening valves.
