whirling sound in 1st and 2nd
Hey guys, I just recently got an MT rx8 it has 6.1k miles on it at the moment
I am nub, but I dont remember my s2k making this whirling sound back (and I assume we have the same trannies right?)
it basically happens when I am at about 14-15mph and I shift to 1st, they is a whirling sound, when I shift to second at about 24-28mph
onlly occurs on downshift
I am sure the car's clutch is a little worn, but I am worried about the gears more, if this is just a clutch issue, then its ok
thoughts?

unless you are competing in some fashion, there is NO reason to downshift into 1st gear at more than 10mph ever.
IF you really need to downshift like that, learn to rev match at least to try and save your synchros some.
i dont remember how the OEM shifter sounds/feels, but in mine its easy to hear and feel the synchros working. so much so that i rev match nearly all downshifts these days, the sound/feel of a quick upshift seems to be plenty of work for the synchros in my baby to be doing already
