why do the apv's get so gunked up?
#26
if i had to do it over again---i would unhook the ppf/driveshaft/exhaust/gasline.motor mounts and with a lift just swig the engine forward enought to get it straight off.
You shouldnt have to move much wiring? Only needs to come forward about 6 inches or so.
All renny street driven engines must have bad seals at some point.
I have never seen a clean set of apv barrels on an engine with over 20K.

All i did was remove the passenger side MM and unhook the drivers side.
I only jacked the engine up a little (best I could), be careful and dont hit the firewall
It would have been MUCH better to unhook it all and move the engine forward about 4-6 inches. If you are very careful you could probably do it with jacks. But the engine with the trans is a little bit heavier.
Be VERY careful when you go to reinstall the small screws that hold the apv's to the arms. They strip very easily. Also be careful and do not bend the arms or prongs any at all.
Have to ask-- Why are you taking it off?

you may not want to run with the apvs open all the time.
I tried that and you end up with a bunch of hot air leaking back into the uim. I measure my intake charge temps at that spot.
I worked on my intake manifold and there is some things that can be done to it.
I have pictures somewhere in the Pettit thread.
A diy?--I really dont want to encourage people to do this. It is to easy to mess the apv arms/screws up.
