why no oxygen sensor DIY?

at least, i could not find one for the front sensor, which the dealership said is showing an open signal.

is it because it is so easy no DIY is needed?

I'm not sure it gets anymore basic than that. I think I have seen more people have trouble removing the airbox than replacing the 02.

Yep. Unplug the front sensor connector, which is located on the top of the tranny bellhousing, use a 22MM box-end wrench to remove the sensor, hand-thread new sensor in place, snug up new sensor with the 22MM wrench, and reconnect to the harness.

BTW, the NIssan Murano has the VQ35 in it. Many of the same mods that work on a 350Z also work on a Murano.

Is pretty much like taking out a Bolt with a socket. then put it back with a wrench.

I never did it b4, Trying to do it tomorrow, but thats what it looks like in the Service Manual.

Guys, don't make this more complicated than it needs to be. Trust me on the 22mm wrench and if the sensor is hard to loosen, hit it with WD-40 or similar.

how about this

If you know how to add coolant, you will know how to replace the front O2 sensor

it's easy to think of what to do, but it might be tough to get the sensor out, and if so you might ruin the threads on the sensor. factory has it on incredibly tight.

Yep and the heat will lock it in place. Stripped threads are common.

Look close to the exhaust manifold, you will see a wire attached to it.

you will 100% need a O2 sensor socket to remove it, I forgot the exact size, was it 22mm or hmm, you can get the free load a tool at autozone.

ok thanks guys i found both sensors. now a new problem. the wire length of the replacement i bought is too short. what the heck. for the 04 rx8 automatic the same sensor acording to autozone fits both pre and post cat. but on the car th pre cat sensor is much longer.

Well i went ahead a replaced the rear sensor and the engine light went off! Car is doing better. I still get a clicking/poping noise on occasion when accelerating, but not as bad as it was. Any ideas?

clicking...yeah sounds like detonation....someone better stop using that 87 octane and upgrade to a better fuel...or they will be replacing a engine soon.

This is what I did when I had mine stock...in the winter I'd use 87 and not even think about it...during the summer I'd use 89,91,93 start off with the 91 and see how it runs make sure there was no noises...everything good I'd try 89...But all in all if you drive easy you can always get away with the 87 and I mean easy like 3500 and lower and no more then 15% throttle on take off even in the hottest days. The winter feel free to get on her!!!! But at any point you hear a noise when accelerating you need higher octane fuel..you'll notice the increase in power and the noise will go away.

Your driving a rotary...I've been there blown a engine...lol they don't like detonation. Mine was due to in boost when I was too low on fuel caused a lean out..which is basically the same thing as using a low octane. My car bucked hard once and it was done.
