I hate comparing the rotary to a piston engine. It will never work. I wonder what would we all would be saying about piston engines if it was the rotary that came out 100 years before the piston engine.
"Man that piston motor gets good horspower, but man it's a huge block of a thing."
"Damn, aren't piston engines overly complicated?"
"Sure those new fangled boingers are a little better on gas, and all, but try getting someone to work on them."
Anyways...if you must compare the rotary to a piston, I always likened it to a huge bore, super short stroke 2.6 liter 4 cyl.
