Wide Open Throttle

Can anyone with one of those mobile monitors tell whats happening at full throttle?

Is she too rich and just decreases power?

every car is going to be a little bit differnt, but yes, at WOT (wide open throttle) the car is adding more fuel than it needs, causing the car to run rich, this unburnt fuel in the exhaust helps cool down the EGT (exhaust gas temp) and keep the catalytic converter in a proper temp range to give it a long life span.

Anything you can do to lean out the A/F (air/fuel ratio) will give more power at the cost of shorter life span for the emissions system (o2 and cat).

That's what I'm trying to find out. Is it the electronics or the ECU that's causing the stall at Wide Open Throttle.

not sure what you are looking for razzi, in first and second full throttle my o2wb reads ~ .8 lambda.

have not had a stalling issue. if you give me more info i will make a run or two for you.

what do you mean? i know the car wont let you go WOT or rev to high until the car feels it is up to temp, and it is safe to go WOT. Once it is, you can go WOT at any time.

He was asking what happens, at high rpm the car runs rich.

My scanner shows the AFR is 12.1 at WOT. A far cry from stoichiometric (14.7).

So yes, this car runs rich at anything over 6000k

12 is nice ive seen mine go into 11s but i havent checked since i went from original M to the new flash. i know there were changes between the 2.

what they are sayign about wot is that just because you floor the pedal doesnt meen the throttle body opens all the way. there is an optimum opening "curve" to keep max power while accelerating. the pcm never opens the throttle all the way in one shot it opens it just ahead of the air need.

razzi,
just got back from a run or 2. here is what i get. in 2nd and 3rd gear it goes to wot at ~ 3700rpm. the afr starts at ~12.5 then drops to ~12.1 as it goes into open loop.

my ltft is +3.2.

hope that helps.

What are you using to log this? Canscan CZ version? Please use lambda next time as I have found out that the CZ version calculates a dynamic formula down low that creates the 12.1 as the lowest AFR. I have compared the normal canscan and cz version and they both give out the same lambda values. Very consistent, but the CZ does AFR differently. It doesn't use the standard SAE formula. I don't trust it.

if you are talking to me i go with lambda, but the ? was asked in afr. you will see at the top i answered in lambda. it runs ~ .8 to .85.

using hymee scanalizer, great product.

^ oh ok. That's about right. I get around .82 usually. I used lambda x 14.63 to get AFR. That's what I learned from Dan.
