Angry wondering what oil i have???

hey i just bought my rx8 and i was wondering is there a way to find out what oil is currently in the car. since i need to add more and my oil change aint till friday. is there a way to know if its syntetic oil or regular oil?

i was told mixing both can blow the engine but running out will do that too haha

Mixing will not blow the engine. Assume it is conventional and continue on.

so no risk of damage to the engine when mixing both syntetic with regular conventional oil

I fear this will now become another oil debate.... but the honest truth is no, there is no harm, sythetic and regular oil will mix together with no issues. As to which is better and what weight to use is a very heated debate that will lead to only one answer, use what you feel is best for your car.

yeah just do an oil change yourself. 16.50 for everything at Autozone, plus they give you free shop towels, oil pan, funnel, and hand cleaner

doubt it, you run a bigger risk not having oil. if i were you id put a little in, just keep it at a decent level, no need to top it off.

remember to retain your warranty (granted the warranty only lasts for 8yrs 100k miles, or whichever comes first) you must show receipts of 5W-20.

Damn you're lucky. For the oil change jug of 10w40 here its like $22 and then I still have to buy a filter for another $8. Mind you I am kinda forced to use the OEM filter with an s2, they do give me a free STP filter when I buy the jug though.

i dont know what weights are allowed to the sale, but all i know is that i used 5w30, and my GF uses 5w20, there was a big sign outside sayin the 5 liter jug and filter was 15.99. i went in, got the jug and filter, the chick working the cashier went to the back and brought me all the other stuff. I walked out a happy camper, I honestly dont know if its the autozone by my house or if its everywhere. great deal tho

i pay 14€\l with a huge discount from 18€\l for my oil...
At 7\8L an oil change i feel like i'm pouring my own blood into the engine, drop after drop.

US Americans are spoiled silly with cheap fuel, oil, and tire technology.

I was fuel distributor seeing people buy $40k pickups the last ten years, but they screamed like hell when the gas went over $1 / gallon.

My Mobil 1 0w40 is a bargain at $6.47 / quart normal Walmart price, and I change it at 5k miles and one year with outstanding uoa.

I just got the same type of deal with all the extras, except it was now 22.99 after tax. I guess autozone was running a deal until the 13th of march..

I am done buying oil there though, walmart is way cheaper on the oil I actually want(pennzoil 10w40) than autozone. Right now walmart has the 5 quart jug for about $15 while autozone is selling the same one for 23.99.
