Thanks for the info.

I'm in the "questioning" stage now with it. The car has been running fine again for the last few days, so I'm really not sure what to make of it. The problem seems to come and go, and I haven't been able to figure out any pattern to diagnose it.

Does anyone know what is making the cats go bad? Is the cats that are defective from the factory, or is the engine blowing oil or gas into it, making it go bad prematurely? From the look of the pictures I've seen posted, I'd assume it would take more than a couple weeks to go from the nice beige honeycomb material to a pile of black crud... but I don't really know, so I am simply assuming. I'd really like to know what the root cause is, as I'm sure would anyone else having cat problems.

One of my issues is that whenever the car is one of it's sluggish moods (which has lasted from days to weeks at a time), I have to feather the clutch a lot to keep from stalling out at low RPMs (or keep from getting run over when I'm in traffic). This is causing extra wear on my clutch... which will eventually lead to another premature expense to replace it. It doesn't appear anyone is getting compenated for such "indirect" expenses.
