2003 RX8 low rpm hesitation
Hello,
I have a factory std 6 speed 2003 RX8 that has a hesitation problem under about 3000 rpm.
For example, I might be in 2nd engine braking to a red light that then goes green, I put my foot back on the accelerator but instead of smooth acceleration the car hesitates jerks until the revs hit about 3000rpm. This happens in all gears.
The strange thing is that when I replaced my plugs and coils and leads the problem went away for a few days and the car felt great and smooth to drive again, I was stoked. But unfortunately the hesitation/jerking problem came back.
I have done some searching but because the problem went away but then came back I am not convinced I have found the solution (worn engine mounts, stuck purge solenoid valve)
Maybe the ESS? I can try cleaning this and see if it makes a difference.
My car idles fine, no problem there.
Any ideas?
Appreciate the feedback.
Steve.

Thanks for your reply.
I have checked those things since and it all seems ok but you have made me think that perhaps the spark plugs aren't tightened correctly. I did it by hand using tips from other posts on this site but without a torque wrench I can never be certain.
My car is being serviced tomorrow so I might ask them to check the tension of the plugs, I will let you know.

UPDATE:
I had my RX8 serviced yesterday and also had them drain and fill my rear diff.
They replaced my air filter, oil filetr, oil (with 5w30), and I asked them to check the torque of my plugs.
The result:
Car drives way smoother now at the 2000-3000rpm range. Still has the slightest jerk but it's minor in comparison.
I have a feeling the plugs may ben the cause but just having the oil changed may also have helped as it was due a service.
Sorry I cannot be conclusive for others that may find this post but at least the cure was a cheap and common exercise.
